EleganC Bio is the realization of a 16-year friendship between co-founders Zaka and Khizr — a partnership built on trust, shared heritage, and a common vision to transform the nutraceutical industry.
Our partnership began long before the lab, built on a foundation of shared trust and a common South Asian heritage where natural remedies have been a cornerstone of health for generations. It was during Zaka's PhD research at the University of Georgia's Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC) that we identified a critical gap: the world's most powerful traditional botanicals often lacked the data required for modern validation.
We realized that by combining high-resolution structural chemistry with biological proof, we could turn ancient botanical wisdom into a rigorous, data-driven standard.
By integrating NMR structural elucidation with C. elegans phenotypic screening, we are developing a pipeline of proprietary, licensable IP for the global nutraceutical industry. Co-Founder & Chief Scientist
Zaka holds a PhD from the University of Georgia's Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC), where he developed expertise in high-resolution NMR structural elucidation and C. elegans phenotypic screening. His research bridges the gap between traditional botanical knowledge and modern molecular validation, enabling the creation of patent-ready scientific dossiers. With access to 900 MHz Bruker NMR spectrometers and institutional-grade facilities, Zaka ensures every data point produced by EleganC Bio meets the highest standards of scientific rigor.
Khizr
Co-Founder & Strategy Lead
Khizr is a finance professional and strategist who brings rigorous financial discipline to EleganC Bio's commercial ambitions. Trained in accounting and finance at IBA Karachi and holding an MS in Technology Management & Entrepreneurship from LUMS, he combines deep technical financial expertise with a sharp entrepreneurial instinct.
His career spans assurance and audit at A.F. Ferguson & Co. (PwC network) and a Finance Manager role at Enabling Qapital AG — a Swiss impact investment firm — where he built financial models, led ERP implementations, and established the reporting infrastructure that underpins institutional-grade operations. He is a certified Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA), with hands-on expertise in IFRS and Swiss GAAP reporting, strategic budgeting, and KPI frameworks.
At EleganC Bio, Khizr channels this foundation into building a venture that is as commercially sound as it is scientifically rigorous. He translates the company's breakthrough research into market-ready product offerings, structures licensing frameworks, manages strategic partnerships, and ensures the business is positioned with the financial credibility that serious brands and investors demand — building the engine that takes it to market.
